In Incan culture, their god of trickery goes by the name Ayar Cachi. Ayar Cachi was one of 8 siblings, 4 brothers, and 4 sisters. Ayar was the strongest of the four brothers able to destroy a mountain with one shot from his sling. After a great flood, he and his siblings emerged from a mountain a created Peru. Ayar Cachi was very powerful, so much so that his brothers grew jealous of him and imprisoned him on a Pacarina. His trickery is what helped him escape from his brother’s grasp. Once he escaped he had his brothers killed for imprisoning him and then created the Incan empire. Though there isn’t much trickery in his tale the South Americans didn’t have many tricksters, this continues to the Latin Americans’ Pedro Urdemales.
Pedro Urdemales was a rouge who could fool the devil, not a god and not completely a trickster but he gets a spot amongst other tricksters for his feats of logic. He was a poor man with only the clothes on his back as his fortune, but he traveled and kept afloat with his use of superior logic. His story originated in Spain in the Middle Ages but moved to South America with the conquistadors and has since completely vanished from Spain. Though this was the last continent, many islands were and are populated that all have their own cultures.
